Valentine’s Day - Not For Scriptural People
Amiyr Abdul-Latiyf Hamin

Translated for the original: [Middle English holidai, holy
day, from Old English h lig dæg : h lig, holy; see
holy + dæg, day; see day.] - dictionary.com.
Therefore, holiday is really Holyday.
Valentine's Day does not represent an observance of any
Biblical event
February 14th every year marks the celebration of St. Valentine’s
Day. On a day that is born in the midst of the bitterest
barren days of winter some celebrate a tradition that is
hundreds of years old. Flower shops are getting ready for
a post-Christmas bonanza; after all, there must be a red
rose for everybody's sweetheart. Valentine's cards and romance
are in the air. Valentine's Day is significant in that it
is a celebration of love manifested and expressed by every
EUROPEAN nation in the world. There is a certain excitement
that comes with Valentine's Day just like with Christmas
for those who follow European customs. Basically, it is
a Christian celebration, and it is (manifested) with fully
red costumes, clothing and shoes, and exchange of red roses.
Early Christians saw Valentine's Day as a way to honor St.
Valentine, of whom there were actually three. The Catholic
Church recognizes three saints by that name, all who were
supposedly martyred on February 14. Valentine's Day does
not represent an observance of any Biblical event, national,
memorial or celebration of historical accomplishment.
Countless millions of people celebrate this day known as
St. Valentine's Day. Even churches have Valentine parties
on this so-called Day of Love. In schools, from pre-school
and kindergarten on up, children draw names from a box and
exchange heart-shapes notes which “pair off the children
and is said to be all in fun. People of all ages get into
the act, and the words that are heard everywhere on that
day are, Be My Valentine.
Right
after Christmas is over, every department store, drugstore
and convenience place is chock stocked, filled with heart-shaped
boxes of candy, mushy cards and fluffy stuffed animals (yes,
animals). It's completely commercial; an excuse to make
vendors of flowers, candy, presents and greeting cards a
little richer.
Why are we subjugated to this mass attack of our wallets
and purses? Why are we so gullible? Why are our lives dictated
by commercialism? Why do we celebrate St. Valentine's Day?
Son of Ra profoundly said: “… Because Nubians
rely on the paleman for their history …all the knowledge
found within the society of the soul people was made to
be interpreted as Greek mythology. This symbolism reflects
how we were taught to love Romans and Greeks or pale people.
Even to the extent of wanting to look like them. Many men
shave their heads to look like Greek homosexuals or like
the dog-like beasts of Rome.”
He continues to say that: “Most black people don't
care about their own origins, so you know they don't care
about the origins of these Caucasian hellidays. They just
wanna’ go out and live in the image of the beast,
give their money away to others and keep thinking that those
who profit by this helliday will one day accept them as
equal.”
From another perspective we, as proud African Americans
have the need to counter the negative media assaults on
our people and our relationships by showing our strong family
ties and affinity.
What The Abrahamic Scriptures Say (about unholy
days)
If we read the Old Testament (Torah) when God instituted
'holydays' for the Israelites, we find that they were mainly
days of reverence or intended for the use of the day, according
to its namesake – Holy Day. After leaving the occult
society of Egypt, where holidays were set apart for different
gods and pharaohs, it would only be a matter of time before
these practices were revived, if God doesn't allow. Holidays
or Holy Days are religious days dedicated to a particular
deity. So then, according to the Scriptures whom both cultures
uphold, Israelites AND Christians cannot adopt a pagan holiday
like Christmas, Valentine’s Day or Easter; for this
would indirectly give reverence to the former practice.
When the Israelites left Egypt, The Most High made new and
specific Holydays unto him for them to observe. Using occult
holidays intertwined with religion, as a day of reverence
is horrendous.
Read what The Most High commands His people, the Israelites,
concerning pagan customs and traditions: “Learn not
the way of the heathen…for the customs of the people
are vain” (Jer. 10:2-3). Also, for Christians, notice
Jesus’ words in Matthew 15:39: “…in vain
they do worship Me, teaching for doctrines the commandments
of men.”
Throughout the Bible, The Most High describes “heathens”
as those who worship things that He had created (animals,
the sun, the moon, stars, trees, etc.), or man-made idols,
or anything but the one true The Most High. He calls such
people and their practices pagan. True Christians understand
that The Most High hates any customs, practices and traditions
that are rooted in paganism.
But just how serious is The Most High about paganism?
When He rescued the twelve tribes of Israel from brutal
slavery and led them out of Egypt, He commanded them, “After
the doings of the land of Egypt, wherein you dwelt, shall
you not do: and after the doings of the land of Canaan,
where I bring you, shall you not do: neither shall you walk
in their ordinances” (Lev. 18:3). The Most High demanded
the Israelites not to defile themselves with the pagan practices
and customs of surrounding nations (vs. 24-29). “Therefore
shall you keep Mine ordinance, that you commit not any one
of these abominable customs, which were committed before
you, and that you defile not yourselves therein: I am the
LORD your The Most High” (vs. 30).
The Most High cursed Egypt—a nation of nature-worshippers—with
ten plagues and freed Israel from slavery. He rescued Israel
from Pharaoh’s army by parting the Red Sea and leading
His people to safety. He fed the Israelites manna—special
bread made by The Most High—from heaven. He protected
them from battle-tested Gentile armies, delivered them into
the Promised Land and drove out their enemies.
How did Israel treat The Most High in return? “Our
fathers understood not Your wonders in Egypt; they remembered
not the multitude of Your mercies; but provoked Him at the
sea, even at the Red Sea…They soon forgot His works;
they waited not for His counsel: But lusted exceedingly
in the wilderness, and tempted The Most High in the desert…They
made a calf in Horeb, and worshipped the molten image. Thus
they changed their glory into the similitude of an ox that
eats grass. They forgot The Most High their Savior, which
had done great things in Egypt; wondrous works in the land
of Ham, and terrible things by the Red Sea…they despised
the pleasant land, they believed not His word: But murmured
in their tents, and hearkened not unto the voice of the
LORD …They joined themselves also unto Baal-peor,
and ate the sacrifices of the dead. Thus they provoked Him
to anger with their intentions” (Psa. 106:7, 13-14,
19-22, 24-25, 28-29).
The Most High explicitly commanded Israel to cast out and
utterly destroy all nations that occupied the Promised Land
(Canaan). Above all, His people were not to make political
alliances with them or marry into their families (Deut.
7:1-3, 5, 16). “For they will turn away your sons
from following Me, that they may serve other gods”
(vs. 4).
But the Israelites thought they knew better than The Most
High. They decided to do things their own way. “They
did not destroy the nations, concerning whom the LORD commanded
them: But were mingled among the heathen, and learned their
works. And they served their idols: which were a snare unto
them. Yes, they sacrificed their sons and their daughters
unto devils [demons], and shed innocent blood, even the
blood of their sons and of their daughters, whom they sacrificed
unto the idols of Canaan: and the land was polluted with
blood. Thus were they defiled with their own works, and
went a whoring with their own inventions” (Psa. 106:34-39).
To wake them up and get them back on track as the model
nation He had originally intended, The Most High gave Israel
over to their enemies. Israel repented and cried out to
The Most High. Yah rescued them. With their bellies full
and lives protected, the Israelites went back to pursuing
other gods. The Most High punished Israel again. Israel
repented and cried out to Yah.
And so went the deliverance-idolatry-punishment-repentance
cycle (vs. 40-46), until finally, The Most High had no other
choice but to divorce unfaithful Israel (Jer. 3:6-11).
He used the Assyrians, one of the most brutal warrior nations
in history, to invade, conquer, enslave and relocate the
entire northern kingdom of Israel (II Kings 17). Many of
the modern-day African descendants of those ten “lost”
tribes are unaware of their true identity even to this day.
Later, The Most High sent the southern kingdom of Judah
(mainly the tribes of Judah, Benjamin and Levi) into Babylonian
exile (II Kings 24 and 25). Because they kept (at least
physically) the true Sabbath, which is a special sign that
identifies the one true God and His people (Ex. 31:12-18),
the Israelites were able to retain their true identity.
The Israelites were severely punished because they lusted
after pagan customs, rituals, traditions and practices.
As you can see, The Most High does not take paganism lightly.
Islamic Perspective
It is said that Muslims should avoid anything associated
with pagan immoral practices - Muslims are encouraged not
to honor or celebrate the death of a Christian "saint"
- Islam does not encourage flirting or suggestions of romantic
relationships before marriage - Love between families, friends
and married people does not need to be celebrated on a day
with such un-Islamic origins.
Celebrating the Valentine Day is not permissible
for Muslims as one scholar of Islam says because:
”First, it is an innovated holiday
that has no basis in the Shariah (Law):
Secondly, it calls to love and passion, not necessarily directed
at one’s legal spouse, i.e. girl/boyfriends. Islam does
not encourage flirting or suggestions of romantic relationships
before marriage.
So it is not permissible that anything from
the signs of that holiday takes place on that day, whether
it relates to eating, drinking, clothing, giving gifts, or
other than that.”
The Prophet Muhammad said: "Whosoever
imitates a nation is amongst them" [Abu Dawud, pg 559;
HM Sa'eed].
The Prophet (saw) has advised us that if we love somebody
we should let him or her know (the forbidden relationships
are not included in this advice).
Love between families, friends and married
people does not need to be celebrated on a day with such un-Islamic
origins.
“Come Out of Her, My People”
Concerning the near future, when man’s Satan-influenced
world is about to collapse, God declares, “Babylon the
great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of
devils [demons], and the hold of every foul spirit, and a
cage of every unclean and hateful bird. For all nations have
drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the
kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and
the merchants of the earth are waxed [increased] rich through
the abundance of her delicacies” (Rev. 18:2-3).
Concerning this pagan, satanic system, God commands true Christians,”
Come out of her, My people, that you be not partakers of her
sins, and that you receive not of her plagues” (vs.
4).
St. Valentine’s Day originates from the ancient paganism
of this Satan-influenced world. It is designed to deceive
mankind by appealing to fleshly, carnal desires. Do any of
these sound like Lupercalia to you?
Ultimately, “they which do such things shall not inherit
the kingdom of God.”
A true Believer is focused on God — not on the fleshly
cravings of hedonisms. A true Believer must strive to “put
off the old man” and actively imitate the perfect, righteous
example of our honorable ancestors. A Believer knows that
he/she must actively come out of their world, out of its pagan-infested
customs, practices and traditions.
It is about time we, African folk, examined these foolish
customs of the pagans now falsely labeled Christian. It is
time we quit this Roman and Babylonian foolishness -- this
IDOLATRY -- and get back to the faith of our foreparents delivered
once for all time.
We’re not against love. We’re all for it, in all
its numerous guises, and always have been. It's just that
we’d like love to be recognized for what it truly is:
the greatest single force in any of our lives. So how might
this day that purportedly recognizes and celebrates the most
powerful of human emotions be put to better use?
People are finding a soul mate or kindred companion much less
these days. Lust seems to drive our passions toward the goal
of having a helpmate and much of these types of desires are
acquired from sacrilegious celebrations such as Valentine’s
Day that do nothing but promote commercialisms and raw sex.
Scripturally, The Most High is not against
romance and tender, honorable love between a man and woman
within the context of marriage. For husbands and wives to
seize the opportunity offered in the secular calendar to rejoice
in each others love and to rekindle the wonder and intimate
affection they have exclusively for one another is a good
thing and a blessed thing, and is doubly blessed when done
with thankful hearts to their Creator for the bliss of marital
love between them. Commitment through the covenant of marriage
is not the theme of Valentine's Day; rather it promotes physical
and emotional attraction and encourages temporary romantic
involvement
